18 October 2024 - This weekend, fans of Formula Hololive are in for a treat with back-to-back racing action from both the Japanese and International series. As title battles heat up in both championships, Okayama and Singapore will host crucial rounds that could reshape the standings.
For Formula Hololive Japan, The Okayama SP takes center stage for Formula Hololive Japan with two key races on the calendar: the Tsuyo Cup on Sunday and the Zako Cup, rescheduled to Monday due to delays.
Tsuyo Cup: Sunday, 11 AM JST
The Tsuyo Cup returns after an eventful round at Suzuka where Kaminari Riba dominated, converting pole position into victory. As the championship contenders battle it out on the technical and demanding layout of Okayama, Riba will be looking to continue his strong form. Meanwhile, challengers like Daniel Barguer, fresh off a career-best finish for Hoshimachi Suisei, will aim to disrupt Riba’s momentum.
Zako Cup: Monday, 11 AM JST
Postponed from its usual Saturday slot, the Zako Cup sees its return with Hiyuta Asano leading the charge. Asano has been in unstoppable form with Minato Aqua's spirit raging on in him, securing back-to-back victories and further cementing his lead in the standings. Shawn Goh and Jeff Rohan, both representing Ichijou Ririka and Tokoyami Towa, respectively, are poised to challenge Asano’s dominance at Okayama. The track’s tight turns and short straights could play into the hands of teams adept at tire management and strategy.
With both races delivering critical points toward the season finale, the Okayama weekend will be crucial for all drivers looking to challenge for the championship.
Formula Hololive International: Singapore SP
While Japan will be brimming with action in the daylight, the Formula Hololive International will bring the intensity under the night sky with the Singapore SP on Sunday, 9 PM SST.
Aziz Muazif, representing Ayunda Risu, comes into the Singapore round riding high after his stunning defensive victory at Atlanta. His win not only propelled him up the standings but also showcased his brilliant racecraft under pressure. With just three weeks left until the INT Epilogue GP at Suzuka, every point will count as drivers like Ryan Kagawa, who finished second at Atlanta, look to overtake championship leader Mohd Shazren Redza.
Shazren Redza, fresh off a calculated 8th-place finish at Atlanta, has taken the championship lead for Koseki Bijou and will be looking to extend his points gap under the lights in Singapore. But with competitors like Javier Lusby and Zeke Wimberley eager to recover from their setbacks in Atlanta, the Singapore race could see plenty of twists and turns.
News have also come round that a new driver is set to represent Mori Calliope following the Singapore SP, with Joshua Azurid looking to take over Jake Martinez' seat in the Mori Calliope #4 car for the Sentul round next week onwards. Likewise, Martinez would also make his full-time debut for Hiodoshi Ao in the final race of the 2024 season before engaging in a full-time campaign in FHolo JP in 2025.
The challenging street circuit in Singapore, known for its tight corners and unforgiving barriers, will demand precision from the drivers as they navigate through the tricky sections of the track. Mistakes here can be costly, and with the championship picture beginning to take shape, the pressure is mounting on all the top contenders to deliver strong results.
With intense racing in both Japan and Singapore, this weekend, plus Monday, promises to be a pivotal moment in the Formula Hololive season, as drivers in both series look to bring points home for each of their title hopes.
