Suzuka, 3 May 2024 — As the 2024 Formula Hololive Japan Qualifiers continues its run into the SUGO Qualifiers Finale, drivers gear up for Round 4 of Qualifiers at the iconic Suzuka Circuit in Mie on the weekend of Golden Week. Following an exhilarating round at Tsukuba, anticipation is high for more adrenaline-fueled action on the track.
The previous round at Tsukuba witnessed thrilling battles in both Splits A and B. With overtaking proving to be a challenge, strategic prowess played a pivotal role. Notably, one driver in each race showcased remarkable strategy, securing a significant lead with a well-timed mid-race pitstop.
In Split A, Vladislav Domaschnev of Aki Rosenthal extended his lead in the standings after dominating the Tsukuba SP race. Meanwhile, Kaminari Riba and Rustim Kurashio, drivers for Shishiro Botan and La+ Darknesss respectively, who were winners of previous GPs at Fuji, faced setbacks, finishing outside the top 10. Debutant Hoshizono Ryo's impressive performance for Nakiri Ayame added an unexpected twist to the competition, with him also flexing his muscles as the weekend looms.
Split B on the other hand had Maverick Deuxieme in a similar strategy to Vladislav Domaschnev who scored his first win in Formula Hololive for Omaru Polka, elevating him to third in the Split B standings. Airi Nakamura for Akai Haato faced disappointment after finishing last, while Mohd Shaqif Redza for Momosuzu Nene opened his points tally. Mohd Shazren Redza in the Himemori Luna #31 car resulted in a commendable 4th-place finish. Hiyuta Asano's mission to elevate the Minato Aqua ride in the standings encountered challenges and Daniel Barguer who was under pressure to secure a top 10 spot for Hoshimachi Suisei grabbed a decent 7th.
Split A sees Domaschnev have a 194 point cushion to second placed Lorenzo Ricci, and is also 385 points above 11th placed Michael Turner. A top 10 will surely allow Domaschnev to be mathematically qualified for the 2024 Formula Hololive Japan Tsuyo Cup.
With Split B's close points distributions, guaranteed qualifications will be harder, but Split B leader Yu Chae Yon may have the best shot of securing a spot in the Tsuyo Cup, being 229 points over Jeff Rohan in 11th.
With two rounds to go before the end of Qualifiers, while some drivers can seal the deal in securing a place in the Tsuyo Cup, expect more drama and upsets as the first of two trips to Suzuka this season is set this weekend.
